Join us for our 2024 violin summer camp!
Are you looking for a way to continue developing your violin skills this summer? Incoming 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to join this supportive and fun violin camp experience that will help them develop as violinists, gain experience performing, and get ready for orchestra in the fall. Read below for more details.
Incoming 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in District 21 are invited to register for this summer experience. At this camp, students will be taught a selection of pieces from the Suzuki books. Students who are ready for a challenge may learn other possible pieces selected specifically for their skill level.
5th Grade Camp:
7 20 minute weekly private lesson on Monday or Tuesday afternoons/evenings. (Can schedule outside of these days if needed)
Suzuki pieces from book 1: Go Tell Aunt Rhody, May Song, Allegro, Perpetual Motion
2 30 minute Group Rehearsals
1 Dress Rehearsal
End of summer recital--students will perform the songs they learn with a small group
$130 cost
6th Grade Camp:
7 20 minute weekly private lesson on Monday or Tuesday afternoons/evenings (Can schedule outside of these days if needed)
Suzuki pieces from book 1: Perpetual Motion, Minuet 1, Happy Farmer (More if time allows and students are ready)
2 30 minute Group Rehearsals
1 Dress Rehearsal
End of summer recital--students will perform the songs they learn with a small group
$140 cost
7th and 8th Grade Camp:
7 30 minute weekly private lesson on Monday or Tuesday afternoons/evenings (Can schedule outside of these days if needed)
Each student will learn 2 pieces of their choice at the appropriate level for them. Selections include Suzuki pieces from book 2 such as Musette, Hunters Chorus, Bourree, Witches' Dance, Gavotte, and more
1 Dress Rehearsal
End of summer recital--students will choose one song that they learn over the summer to perfect and perform at the recital as a solo
$160 cost
The emphasis will be on technique, sound, and position. There will also be training on playing with a group during group rehearsals or with the pianist if performing a solo. Note reading will not be emphasized. Students who know how to read music will be able to use that skill. Students who are still learning to note read do not need to hesitate to join us. All music will be provided.
Week 1: Lessons--June 3 and 4
Week 2: Lessons--June 10 and 11
Week 3: Lessons--June 17 and 18
Week 4: Lessons--June 24 and 25
Week 5: Lesson break for the 4th of July. Group rehearsal for 5th and 6th graders on 7/7.
Week 6: Lessons--July 8 and 9
Week 7: No lessons this week. Group rehearsal for 5th and 6th graders on 7/21.
Week 8: Lessons--July 22 and 23
Week 9: No lessons this week.
Week 10: Lessons--August 5 and 6. Dress rehearsal on 8/10. Recital on 8/11.
